What is Democracy?
In a group of 10 say, (Ann, Beauty, Christine, Dolly, Evangelina, Frieda, Geraldine, Hema, Ivana, Jolene), Dolly is very clever, Beauty is intelligent, Frieda, Geraldine, Hema, Ivana, Jolene are of average IQ. Let us say Dolly doesn't like Beauty.
When all the 10 meet, Dolly can join Frieda, Geraldine, Hema, Ivana and Jolene, and declare Beauty as 'mentally retarded' with 6 out of 10 votes. Democratically Beauty is mentally retarded.
Do the government get majority support from Public?
In almost all democratic country, the election results are announced and a particular party forms the government, with support of majority members in parliament.
If one takes the statistics announced, it will be that the sum total of all votes cast in favour of other parties (than the party forming government) will be more than the votes cast (as first choice) in favour of the party forming the government.
This means the government in power has majority of public opposing than supporting.
Where is the choice to voice your opinion?
When one party announces their election promises say 10 items, if the public support only the first promise and not the 9 other promises, where is the possibility for public to show they support that party only for promise number 1?
